Who dedicated?
The manufacturer:

But there is mentioned .50 cal - so it could be for airgun, .50 AE or .50 BMG ;)

I don't remember who dedicated, mayby You. No idea ! It doesn't matter.#

The factory of Trabant dedicated it for the Formula 1 :)

Hielke,
As you can probably see shit storm started.

It is normal when discussing durability of the scope on springers, at least on this forum.

There is a theory that springers are generating different type of vibrations that is “killing the scope”.

To be honest I do not agree with that. Especially that majority of shooters uses scopes on self-repeating firearms that do behave like the M4 from the movie.

Of course there is no “auto” option allowed, but the vibration generated stays the same. And I’m pretty certain that with shoot ability in auto mode around 500 rounds per minute action of the rifle generates more energy than the piston of the air rifle.

In other words it is just a Polish legend about “killer springers”.

The answer to your question is FASHION-PRICE-QUALITY-FLASH AROUND (including myself :) ).

You are comparing Burris Timberline to SS10x42.

Advantages of SS in my opinion are (by experience):

1) 10 magnification in SS is somehow bigger than in BT – at least with my eye setting and I feel it like close to 12 in BT.
2) Fixed magnification helps to get use to you rifle, taking holdovers always on the same setup.
3) Crosshair BT is not that convenient as Mil Quad reticle in SS. (some say it is to thin)
4) As somebody above mentioned SS is Mil on reticle – Mil on crosshair very convenient combination when you zero the rifle. (not as easy for me as my brain is lacking the ability to remember what moves POI or POA – this have been a reason for many laughter’s )

There are disadvantages too:
1) Weight – much higher
2) Parallax error – as you mentioned at the beginning.

I’m not mentioning all those things like:
- Big, or small capability for ranging thanks to blurry picture on extreme distances
- Disappearing reticle

It is always a scope lances and your eye that is creating optical system, and as you can imagine there are no two identical eyes.

I’m using SS 3-15x42 FFP (as I like higher magnifications) and BT.

Now I’m expecting the shit storm will escalate ;laughing:

Here comes the shit storm....

Praca wieżyczek jest so bani? W ogóle kto wpadł na pomysł lunet z krzyżem i nastawami wieżyczek wyskalowanych w tych samych jednostkach?

Ekhhm...

No, it wasn't me because I'm not that familiar with rifle scopes I've just checked your information mentioned here on the manufacturer web.

And I don't remember that the factory of Trabant claimed that it is mentioned for F1 races... So it it probably fake news ;)

Thnx for your spot on answer Maciek concerning the differences of the two scopes.

I also support your view on the sturdiness of scopes on springers. I have a few Hawke scopes. One of them is a Vantage 6-24x44 Side Focus. I have shot about 15.000 pellets with this scope on various platforms. But always on springers. It has never disappointed me and is still holding it's zero like the first day. Also my other Hawkes perform as when new.

The answer as to why the SWFA SS is so popular amongst the top 5 springrifle finishers in Choltice (4 of which are from Poland) might be even more trivial. Why reinvent the wheel when others have done the job for you? I once bought a big aluminium Prince tennisracket (long ago, the learning years) because my trainer had one. I might have done much better with another racket but it felt right. I mean, he was a good tennisplayer, he had this racket, probably part of his performance was in the racket 8-) I'm hereby not suggesting that 3 of the 4 SWFA shooters were copy cats. I don't know. Just suggesting how simple it could be. I did buy the Burris Timberline from Jacub Vicher because in the entry list for Choltice many Chech and Polish shooters were using them. I'm very pleased with this scope but there might be something better on the horizon. Just checking.
